You are both wrong! Or, one of you is more right than the other.
All macs still have the Front Row app, but the Apple remote is now like a $12 option.

Save yourself some money if you already have a bluetooth equipped phone, search and install Salling Clicker. With that app you can use any phone as a remote.

I myself have had to macbook pro's 15, one older from 2008 and the other just recently purchased. The older macbook had came with one in the box, and the recently purchased mac did "NOT", which came to a surprise to me.. I would have thought it would have came with one, but then again the remote don't cost much if you need one. Still feel they should have included one with the purchase, but am happy to have just the one to use on either macs.
