Why do white macbooks get so filthy and lose their white colour around the keyboard and trackpad? How can I restore that beautiful white colour?

Go to an Apple store and show it to them. This is a known problem with white macbooks - mine was replaced instantly.
However, I think they only replace it if the discolorations appear after a certain time (3-12 months after purchase)

I took my daughter's macbook (white) to the sherway gardens apple store in toronto and they replaced the white face top around the keyboard free of charge. of course i was buying a new 32-gig i-touch and some other soft goods for over $500 Cdn.

Well there is no reason for it, just use some lysol wipes to clean it. Mine was disgusting before, but I just used the purple can of Lysol wipes and it was gone, I believe it was the lysol dual action wipes...I am not sure what it was called but that helped me. Colored pencil doesn't come off either, no matter how hard you scrub it. Trust me, I learned that the hard way. Hope this info helped! :-)
