yeah.. mine as well as my friends macbook did the same thing. It has to do with all the empty realestate in the palm rests of the macbooks. they just where out from beeing pushed on. It's really common.

Yes, and it causes those so afflicted to incorrectly spell common words in online postings. Try lifting your plams and touch typing like you're supposed to do...

this has happened to me twice and i need to go in again because i have a one inch crack again. this is my first mac and i've had it five months

Order the alternate colour and make your mac more multicoloured. I have a white one and a black upper case then put the white keys back in it and it looks sick. Only took about 30 minutes to complete. Gets plenty of looks.

Mine cracked after a couple of months, but Apple said that they'd fix it for free......But I have to send the computer away for 10 days.

This is a known issue and Apple will fix it for free (yes, even if it's out of warranty)

yup, i also own a CrackBook
but god, it is digital sex, and has the holes and cracks to prove it.

you don't have to send your macbook to apple, simply take it to an apple store and place an order for this piece called "Topcase" the hole piece includes the keyboard and the trackpad. When the piece arrives they will call to you to install it on your macbook the same day.... without a problem and the better.... TOTALLY FREE, i did it in mexico, you can do it in easier in States.

Same thing happened to me. It's very frustrating. The bottom case chipped off, then afterwards there's also a crack on the upper edges near the screen. The Apple Store can fix this for free right?

this same thing happened twice to mine. I had if fixed same day with no issue. Just make an appointment with the apple store and they will fix it. =D Everyone I know who has a mac book has some or even lots of brakes alone the edges of the computer. I think bottom line it's a crappy design... regardless I love my mac!

God bless the new unibody design :)

I had the same problem too, my authorised reseller said that this is due to a fabrication/engineering fault. They replaced it, without any claim and this after 3 years, although i had no protection plan! Apple's customer service is really awesome!!
