Are You Upset Your Black MacBook Didn't Come with a Black Adapter?
To remedy the situation, this mac enthusiast applied some Semi-flat Krylon paint to his MacBook's adapter, which resulted in this nifty mod:
What do you think? Not a bad idea?
Seriously? Painting an adaptor is a -mod-? I'm not sure how much creativity and intelligence goes into painting something for the purpose of changing its color.

Why can't they just make a black adapter? is it really that freakin' hard?
That looks pretty ugly by the way.

I agree with Aziso, there's no way I would do that to my adapter, way too fugly.

guess that is why they dont make a black one, it would always look cheesy.

As if the white one is elegant? I'd like to see a nice pattern or better yet, a picture like a hand around the apple, because think both black and white are equally ugly.

That sucks.

What if you get the paint inside? Has anyone ever thought of that, it seeping in the cracks between the casing?

a black one would be good for when i'm working on production jobs where every thing needs to be black at the present i have to use black gaffa

ohh, not t'mention when the adapter gets hot, what then? a scratch or rub while its hot surely would ruin that "Masterpiece"

Question is did they paint the magsafe connector, and if so how did htey avoid painting the light indicator, cause that thing is tiny, and hard to avoid with spray paint in my opinion

The paint will come off the wire onces it gets bent then it will chip right off after a little bit..

Okay, okay... so it might not be the best-looking mod ever. Ways to improve over OP:
- Use a high-quality (read: expensive) gloss enamel on your adapter after spraying with a high-temp (auto-grade should be fine) grey primer. Only use these paints on the actual "power brick." Use several light coats instead of one heavy coat - be prepared to take some serious time with this.
- Use specially-formulated vinyl paint (available at custom auto shops) to paint the insulation on the cables. This paint requires special handling, so read the directions carefully.
- Use gloss model-paint to paint the MagSafe connector. Buy a jar of Testor's Gloss Black (from Wal-Mart's toy section, or your local hobby shop), and some mineral spirits (paint thinner). Scuff the MagSafe connector's white areas lightly with fine-grit sandpaper. Spray some of the grey primer from your adapter paintjob onto a paper plate - spray enough so that it builds up enough for you to load up a good, narrow brush with primer. Prime the MagSafe with a couple of good, thin coats of the grey primer. Now, after stirring and shaking the black Testor's, thin the paint about 2:1, or until it is a good, easy-painting consistency. Use several light coats of black instead of one heavy coat. Don't sweat the connection light - you can take a small pick after you're done painting, and scrape the paint off the light. Or, you might be surprised - LED's have a remarkable high energy output, and will often glow through several coats of paint - you might like the results.
