i think black with a white keyboard looks better.

Just did this to mine and i love it. Would really love it if i could put the white keys back on. Does anyone know how to do that? The board cost me a total of 90 bucks through Ebay.

Just out of interest, I was looking at doing this three weeks ago or so, and they're called topcases. I So wanted to do this, but it was dubbed a waste of money.

I orderded one with a apple store to use the keys of a black macbook on a wireless keboard from apple and the topcase costed me around %u20AC100,-
plus the cost of replacing my wired apple keyboard for a wireless made this a quit expensive little joke.
(by the way, I have a black macbook topcase for sale with a pile of white keys with it:P anyone interested?)

Will this work with the 2.2ghz white macbook? The f5 and f6 functions keys are blank, the the two keys next to the space bar dont have an apple logo, other than that difference will buying a older black topcase work?

ugh, I can only find one top black case, I guess I'll wait a while and see what shows up.

I did this hack, before I discovered this page! My reason was that following an incident with my daughter & a glass of water, my keyboard's spacebar gave up the ghost! I bought a black case off eBay, and was delighted to find that the rearranged function keys of the black macbook worked fine on my 2Ghz Intel Core Duo Macbook.

why are people talking about warranties on a modding site?
unreal how stupid people can be, if you care about warranties then dont be on a site where the purpose is to void warranties to make a superior product.

I did this but also replaced the white bezel with a black bezel. Looks nice!

Is this a hard mod? I'm not a very skilled modder myself, but would love to have a "Panda" macbook.

Its not to tough, it requires some research however. Mine is like this and i now have taken apart my topcase about 20 times... i can do it in 20 min now.

There are actually tutorials on YouTube on how to do this. Might give it a try!

Uh, it basicly looks like you settled for the wrong parts, then thought it looked cool. JUST DO NOT GET RID OF YOUR OLD PARTS. make sure you take your time and dont jack up the perfectly good macbooks. Get them powder plastic coated,Looks the same but a totally diffrent color, And alot of plastic coaters won't void apple. Personally I would much rather void it.

My MacBook will be sporting this look in a few days... I had to buy a new top case because the trackpad was having sensitivity problems and found a new one in black on ebay for $50... I'm gonna switch out some of the black keys with white ones so it will tie together even better...

I have this with my macbook, but I have a black one and got a white replacement. It's pretty cool, mines more like an oreo.

He just told me that the black macbook piece was out of stock, and i asked for a white one instead :) the warranty won't be void because a genius from the genius bar did it too! yay! Put a cool silicone keyboard cover on it too in black and it look awesome.

I have a white macbook (bought oct 2006 - ok i know it's old) - volume functions on f3 to f5 with apple logo on command key - what verison is it - and if anyone has a case that would fit - let me know: pixldsign AT gmail dot com.

My friends make pandabooks with white covers, black insides and white keyboards. They change it up alot more than this, but still cool.

its horrible but i would like to know the name of the faceplate piece (black) what surrounds the keys because i need a replacement one!

I did this a while back, but through necessity. I spilt tea on my keyboard so bought a new one through eBay. Unfortunately the only one in my price range was a black one. End result exactly the same as the picture above. I think it looks quite good.

Ross, you have to buy the whole keyboard, it's one complete unit. It's called a topcase.

I'm sorry for this (maybe) stupid question, but is the black topcover the same material like the white top cover? (I want to get rid of my "crackbook") Or does anyone have another option?
