Brief MacBook History

The Apple MacBook Pro was first unveiled by Steve Jobs at the Macworld Expo in January 2006. It was the first Apple notebook to feature an Intel processor. The flagship laptop was a replacement for the aging PowerBook.
In May 2006 Jobs introduced the smaller (and slower) Black and White MacBooks as a replacement for the popular iBook lineup. This was a significant change for Apple, as all of its laptops were now powered by Intel's Core Duo processors.

MacBook Updates and Releases

Both the MacBook and MacBook Pro have been updated by Apple several times.
In the past, most of these updates have occured in January, May, Mid-Summer, and right before the Winter holidays. The updates are not announced ahead of time, nor are they consistent with previous release dates.
